Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

The Maastricht Journal of Psychology and Neuroscience (MSJPN) aims to stimulate both bachelor and master students in their academic education and, furthermore, provide a platform to publish both empirical work and reviews. MSJPN is a peer-reviewed journal including papers that reflect the ongoing teaching and research areas within the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience of Maastricht University.

Peer Review Process

The journal's policy is to obtain three (at least two) independent reviews of each article. Peer review is conducted by students from the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience. Additionally, each paper is also reviewed by a staff member from university, mostly one of the members of the editorial board.

Referees will be encouraged to provide substantive, constructive reviews that provide suggestions for improving the work and distinghuish between mandatory and non-mandatory recommendations. All manuscripts accepted for publication are subject to editing for presentation, style and grammar. Any major redrafting is agreed with the author, but the editor's decision on the text is final. 


Publication Frequency

MSJPN is published once a year.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.



This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
